Abstract
On the basis of film theory, a simplified absorption macro-model of the car bonization process of ammoniated aqueous solutions of sodium sulfate has be en developed. This model can be used in industrial designs and process simu lations of the carbonizing tower of soda production using mirabilite (Na2SO 4 ore) as the feedstock. It can also be applied in the calculation of the m ass transfer rates, enhancement factors, concentration profiles, and total transfer coefficients. The calculated results are in good agreement with ex perimental results.
