In this paper, the authors aim to analyze the training performance of an op
erator performing a manual-tracking task and to study the effects of visual
aids on the operator's training performance. A program called the Tacking
Training System, was developed and it allows the operator to manually track
a moving target using a joystick and to monitor the operator's performance
. Two sets of experiments, one with visual aids and another without were co
nducted. The results of the experiments indicate that through continuous tr
aining, the performance of the operators can be improved and with visual ai
ds, the training time of the operator can be shortened.
