This commentary focuses on the relationship between intentions and actions,
ns within theoretical models of movement behaviour considered in relation t
o sport performance. It is argued that an integrated approach is needed whi
ch seeks to explain intentionality as one of many important constraints on
movement systems, An interesting question is whether complementarity is nee
ded in models of the intentions-actions relations. it is recognised that an
overarching dynamical systems approach is working towards the goal of inte
grating the behaviour of cognitive and movement systems. The emphasis on co
nstraints within a unified, non-complementary framework, as well as a poten
tial strategy for sport pedagogy.
