The reuse of requirements has received little attention in the literat
ure, especially in relation to genuine industrial experience. This pap
er describes the efforts being made to promote the reuse of requiremen
ts for engine control systems at Rolls-Smith Engine Controls Limited (
RoSEC). Our approach is based on existing domain analysis techniques,
and we relate our experience of applying these techniques to develop a
core set of generic requirements. A forms-based tool that we have pro
totyped which supports the reuse of requirements during the developmen
t of new systems is also presented, and is compared with existing reus
e tools. The paper concludes with a discussion on the possible impact
of this work on RoSEC's current requirements engineering process. (C)
