Abstract
Dynamic viscosities, eta, densities, rho, and enthalpies of mixing of binar y mixtures containing propylene carbonate + anisole, or + phenetole have be en determined at (293.15, 303.15, and 313.15) K and at atmospheric pressure over the whole range of composition. From these results, the deviations in viscosity, Delta eta, the excess molar volumes, V-m(E), and the excess mol ar enthalpies, H-m(E), have been calculated. Both Delta eta and V-m(E) are always negative, while positive values have been obtained for H-m(E). Minim a of Delta eta and V-m(E) and maxima of H-m(E) are the following: -0.248 mP a.s, -0.744 cm(3).mol(-1), and 347 J.mol(-1) for the mixtures propylene car bonate + anisole; -0.28 mPa.s, -0.146 cm(3).mol(-1), and 766 J.mol(-1) for the mixtures propylene carbonate + phenetole. The temperature effect has sh own more marked differences for H-m(E) Results have been correlated using t he Redlich-Kister polynomial.
