Abstract
For only the second time in Israel's history, mentally ill patients who are hospitalized were allowed to vote in the election of the Prime Minister an d members of the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament). The elections were held on 17 May 1999. However, only 29% exercised their right to vote, compared w ith 79% of the general population.
