Abstract
A new complex, [Co-2(C25H30N4)(3)](NO3)(4). 8H(2)O. has been synthesized an d characterized hy single crystal X-ray diffraction, ESI-MS spectroscopy. e lectronic absorption spectrum. and magnetic measurements. The cation of the complex contains two cobalt(II) atoms and three ligands (L), which twist a round the Co(II)-Co(II) axis, leading to a dinuclear triple helix. Each cob alt(II) atom is six-coordinated with three Co-N (pyridyl) and three Co-N (N =CH-) of three ligands (L), and attains a pseudo-octahedral coordination ge ometry. Magnetic measurements show that the complex is a high-spin species in the temperature range of 75-300 K. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Ali ri ghts reserved.
