Abstract
In this paper an efficient numerical procedure for the efficient solution o f general three-dimensional elastic contacts where the bodies in the neighb ourhood of the point of contact may be represented as half-spaces is descri bed. The solution relies on a piecewise-linear approximation to the true co ntact pressure distribution.
