Abstract
A conceptual model to the interactions between dry and wet patches in trans
ition boiling was proposed to interpret the dynamic characteristics of the
boiling system. Both gradual transition and sudden jumps between nucleate b
oiling and film boiling are properly interpreted in a mechanistic manner.
