Abstract
Normal talar anatomy is mandatory for efficient and pain-free ambulation. W hen the talus is injured in a talar neck fracture, devastating complication s can occur. Talar neck injuries present a challenge to even the most exper ienced foot and ankle surgeons. The authors review talar neck fractures, in cluding history, mechanism of injury, treatment options, and potential comp lications. The importance of anatomic reduction with rigid internal fixatio n and avoidance of varus malunion is emphasized.
