Foot compartment syndrome is a recognized clinical entity that has few cons
istent clinical signs, except for tense swelling. A high degree of clinical
suspicion is necessary to provide appropriate treatment. Invasive direct p
ressure monitoring is needed to diagnose foot compartment syndrome. High-en
ergy injuries cause foot compartment syndrome, but individual risk factors,
such as prolonged venous occlusion and blood dyscrasias, are causative fac
tors.
