C. Turbitt-daoust et al., Orientation effects in the evaluation of populations of irregularly shapedparticles by image analysis, PART PART S, 17(4), 2000, pp. 159-166
Three different powders were studied by image analysis. Shadow casting was
used to generate information on particle orientation. It was discovered tha
t orientation effects can distort the data generated in size characterizati
on studies and as a consequence of these studies it is suggested that, in a
ny image analysis study intended to be used to generate reference data, sha
dow casting-orientation studies should be carried out to specify the orient
ation of the fineparticles.
