The parallel dielectric permittivity elements of a toroidal collisionless p
lasma with elliptic magnetic surfaces are analyzed for waves in the frequen
cy range of the toroidicity-induced Alfven eigenmodes (TAEs). The dielectri
c characteristics are derived by serving the drift-kinetic equation of the
trapped and untrapped particles in tokamaks with large aspect ratio and sma
ll elongation. The dissipated power of the Alfven waves is expressed by the
summation of terms including the non-diagonal elements of the parallel per
mittivity. Estimations of the TAEs electron Landau damping are carried out
for the JET-plasma parameters.
