The electrolyte in the micropores of activated carbon, in contact with aque
ous 0.3 M potassium fluoride solution and at zero charge potential, consist
s essentially of ion pairs along with merely 0.06 M free ions. The mobiliti
es are 5 and 1.4 S cm(2) mol(-1) for K+ and F-, respectively. Exchange of i
ons with the external electrolyte, upon stepwise change of the electrode po
tential, was assisted by macropores.
