H. Falomir et al., Casimir energy for a scalar field with a frequency dependent boundary condition - art. no. 025015, PHYS REV D, 6302(2), 2001, pp. 5015
We consider the vacuum energy for a scalar field subject to a frequency dep
endent boundary condition. The effect of a frequency cutoff is described in
terms of an incomplete zeta function. The use of the Debye asymptotic expa
nsion for Bessel functions allows us to determine the dominant (volume, are
a,...) terms in the Casimir energy. The possible interest of this kind of m
odel for dielectric media (and its application to sonoluminescence) is also
discussed.
