A survey was conducted to determine the prevalence of anthelmintic resistan
ce in horses and cattle from Greece using the faecal egg count reduction te
st. Oxfendazole and Ivermectin were tested respectively in 41 and 35 horses
. Twenty were kept as non treated controls. Albendazole, Levamizole, Moxide
ctin and Ivermectin were tested respectively in 23, 12, 15 and 15 cattle. T
wenty have been kept as controls. Benzimidazole resistant worms (Trichonema
spp.) were found in 20 % of the horse studs tested, but not in the cattle
farms.
