Cephalic nociception

Nociceptive processing in the trigeminal system parallels that of the spina l system in most significant features of anatomic, physiologic and neuropha rmacological organization and function. In instances in which specificities occur, most arise from both similarities between visceral pain and headach e and existence of the trigeminovascular system. These similarities are giv en special emphasis in this review.
