Abstract
A new method for the synthesis of 2-arylbenzothiazoles by the reaction of d ibenzyl disulfides with o-aminothiophenol is suggested. A possible mechanis m of the new transformation is discussed. 2-Phenylbenzothiazole call also b e prepared by reactions of o-aminothiophenol with benzyl mercaptane or sodi um benzyl thiosulfate.
