Abstract
Geodetic measurements show that the convergence rate between Southern Swede n and the Alps is about less than or equal to 2 mm/a (Ward 1994). This amou nt works on a theologically stratified medium as described by Elsasser (196 9). The largest part of Central Europe reacts by wide span bending. Shear z ones, mostly of horizontal strike slip character form an exceptional situat ion inside the studied area. Earthquake activities are concentrated to inte rsections of different sheer zones (Illies, 1982).
