Tilted three-quasiparticle band in Xe-123

High-spin states in Xe-123 were populated in the Pd-110(O-18, 5n) reaction at 75 MeV. In-beam gamma -rays were measured using the GASP spectrometer. A new rotational sequence of enhanced dipole transitions was established. Su ch regular DeltaI = 1 bands, characterised by large B(M1)/B(E2) ratios and a lack of signature splitting have been identified in a number of even-even nuclei in the Xe-Ba region. The proper microscopic description of such ban ds can be obtained in the framework of the Tilted Axis Cranking (TAC) model .
