Behaviour of the static pressure around a tussock grassland-forest interface

A field experiment was executed to measure static pressure differences arou nd a forest edge. So-called Quad-Disks' were used to measure static pressur e unaffected by the dynamic pressure induced by the probe itself. Flow obli quity appeared to have little influence on the results. For a smooth to rou gh transition, the results showed a maximum pressure difference within the forest at x = 0.6 h relative to the probe at x = -4 h, where the height of the forest h = 25 m. For a rough to smooth transition the normalised pressu re differences were only weak. A maximum pressure difference was found just outside the forest at I = 0.6 h relative to the probe at x = 4 h probably related to a reattachment point.
