Abstract
Atheroembolic disease is a known cause of renal failure following invasive vascular procedures in patients with atherosclerosis. It is, however, not g enerally associated with renal transplant dysfunction. We report on a case of donor-transmitted atheroembolic renal disease, which led to an immediate loss of the transplant kidney in the operating room. Risk factors associat ed with this condition and methods to prevent this complication are discuss ed. (C) 2001 by the National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
