Abstract
With the possible exception of pulmonary artery catheters, central venous c atheters (CVCs) have the highest rates of infection of all intravascular ca theters, accounting for up to 90% of all vascular catheter-related bloodstr eam infections.(1) The frequency of CVC-related infections is between 10-30 %.(2)
