Abstract
This paper discusses an anisotropic two-dimensional system consisting of chains possessing rigidity against bending in the presence of inter chain orientational interactions. The mean susceptibility I(gamma) rel ative to an individual element of a selected chain on which a dipole f ield acts is calculated. This type of action occurs, for example, when a chain having a longitudinal component of the dipole moment and incl uded in a matrix made up of nonpolar chains undergoes dielectric relax ation.
