Abstract
Spisulosine is a novel antiproliferative (antitumoral) compound of marine o rigin. In this work the molecular target for this toxic agent has been anal yzed. In the presence of spisulosine, cultured cells change their morpholog y, first acquiring a fusiform morphology, and later becoming rounded withou t focal adhesions. Analysis of the cytoskeleton of treated cells indicate t he absence of actin stress fibers. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. A ll rights reserved.
