Abstract
Rate constants measured for the Cl-+CH3Br-->CH3Cl+Br- reaction increas e by over two orders of magnitude when the temperature is reduced from 300 to 23 K. Calculations done with the rotating bond approximation p rovide a simple explanation of this unusually strong negative temperat ure dependence of the rate constant.
