Ma. Quraishi et D. Jamal, Corrosion inhibition of N-80 steel and mild steel in 15% boiling hydrochloric acid by a triazole compound - SAHMT, MATER CH PH, 68(1-3), 2001, pp. 283-287
A new corrosion inhibitor namely, 4-salicylideneamino-3-hydrazino-5-mercapt
o-1,2,4-triazole (SAHMT), has been synthesized and its influence on corrosi
on inhibition of oil-well tubular steel (N-80) and mild steel in 15% hydroc
hloric acid (HCl) solution under boiling condition has been studied using w
eight loss method. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements clearly reveal
that the investigated inhibitor is of mixed type and it inhibits the corro
sion of both the steels by blocking the active site of the metal. The adsor
ption of the inhibitor on the metal surface from 15% HCl has been found to
obey Temkin's adsorption isotherm. The performance of the SAHMT was compare
d with that of propargyl alcohol (PA), a standard corrosion inhibitor for a
cidization. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
