This paper proposes a methodology to design a cam-spring mechanism to compe
nsate exactly the load variations in a mechanical transmission due to a per
iodic torque. The cam-spring system, termed torque-compensating mechanism,
is designed such that resonance due to the reciprocating motion is avoided.
The design methodology is then applied to the synthesis and design of a qu
ick-return mechanism. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
