Over the past 30 years, the Strategic Planning Society has been a majo
r force in promoting strategic thinking and action both in the private
and public sectors. It has also played a key role in the development
of this journal. This article, by a past Chairman, explains how the So
ciety has played this role by surfing the frontier of strategic thinki
ng and networking among strategic thinkers, gurus and practitioners. i
t reminds us how dramatically the strategic agenda has changed over th
e period and explains how the Society has grown and stayed relevant fo
