Measurements of the electrical resistivity were used to study the kinetics
of phase transformations in the cold-worked Cu-40 at % Pd alloy upon vacuum
annealings. Diagrams of isothermal transformations were constructed: the r
esults are compared with available data. The alloy was shown to become orde
red upon isothermal annealings over the whole temperature range studied (up
to 1000 degreesC). Upon annealings above 300 degreesC, the order is establ
ished before the alloy has time to be heated to a desired temperature. It w
as found experimentally that the temperature ranges of order-disorder trans
formation observed in our case show a discrepancy with those given in the a
vailable binary phase diagrams.
