Abstract
The behaviour of polyelectrolyte gel under the influence of combined electr ic and magnetic fields has been studied. It is shown that the rate of gel c ontraction stimulated by an electric field can be significantly changed und er the action of an external magnetic field. A qualitative interpretation o f the observed phenomenon is given. (C) 2001 Society of Chemical Industry.
