Abstract
It has been shown that the use of short monolithic silica columns coupled t o mass spectrometry provides reduced analytical run times for the purpose o f metabolite identification from in vitro samples compared to conventional analytical chromatography, with no loss in chromatographic performance. Six hydroxylated debrisoquine isomers were separated in 1 min, with adequate r esolution to enable peak assignment. The resolution and selectivity achieve d using short monolithic silica columns were comparable to conventional ana lytical chromatography and the analysis time per sample was reduced from 30 to 5 min.
