Vm. Vorotyntsev et al., Calculation of the coefficient of distribution of admixtures for the process of forming gas hydrates in sulfur hexafluoride, RUSS J PH C, 75(1), 2001, pp. 121-125
A theoretical analysis of the possibility of an influence of the formation
of gas hydrates on the efficiency of the fine purification of sulfur hexafl
uoride was performed. The redistribution of the components of a gas mixture
was characterized by the relative distribution coefficient K-21. As a resu
lt of the purification, gas hydrates become enriched in sulfur dioxide (K-2
1 > 1) and depleted in nitrogen (K-21 < 1). Depending on the pressure of th
e gas mixture, the distribution coefficient for carbon dioxide can be eithe
r higher or lower than unity. The analysis performed shows that, under cert
ain conditions, the phenomenon of formation of gas hydrates can be used for
the fine purification of sulfur hexafluoride from a variety of admixtures.
