The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in the H2O2/V(V)/AcOH and Mo(VI)/H2O
2/H2O systems occurs by the molecular mechanism and yields singlet dioxygen
O-1(2)((1)Deltag). Under the conditions of O-1(2) formation, the EPR signa
l of the paramagnetic particle experiences unusual (to 10 G) broadening. Po
ssible reasons for such a broadening are discussed (triplet dioxygen effect
s, chemical interactions of the O-1(2) free radical, spin-spin coupling, or
electron exchange between O-1(2) and the free radical).
