Abstract
Within the maintenance department of the AG Dillinger Huttenwerke (DH) much use is made of the diagnosis system for mechanical engineering in dependen ce of the respective production plant in the different stages of quality an d development. Apart from the often difficult assessment of economy the aim of analysis is an important aspect in the selection of a suitable diagnosi s process. Apart from the early recognition of damages, assessment of the a ctual situation and/or analysis of operational conditions are the equally i mportant targets of diagnosis in maintenance. Actual examples of application show where vibration diagnosis (analysis of sound conducted through solids), diagnosis of operational and process param eters and thermal diagnosis (thermographics) can be employed, thus determin ing the main aspects of diagnosis in mechanical engineering within maintena nce at DH. In addition to the actual examples of application, basic conditi ons and problems as well as limits (false diagnoses) of the above methods o f diagnosis will be discussed and prospects given for further use and futur e developments in diagnosis in mechanical engineering within the maintenanc e department at DH.
