Abstract
Feeding of E,E-[1-H-3] farnesol to Nicotiana tabacum L. cv Bright Yellow-2 cells demonstrated large incorporation of the radioactivity into free stero ls, the predominant end products of the mevalonate pathway. All the individ ual sterols, including cholesterol, were found to be labeled. Farnesol radi oactivity was also detected in the prenyl side-chain of ubiquinone Q(10). ( C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
