Abstract
Previous studies have suggested that the effects of progesterone on kindlin g in rats may be sexually differentiated, significant effects of physiologi cal levels of progesterone being observed only in females. The present stud y demonstrates that this difference results from the hormones secreted by t he testes. Thus, in orchidectomized males, progesterone induces a delay in the onset of amygdala-kindled seizures similar to that observed in females. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
