Abstract
The structure of the core oligosaccharide of aerotolerant Campylobacter jej uni O:2 lipopolysaccharide was determined and found to contain 3-deoxy-D-ma nno-octulosonic acid (Kdo), L-glycero-D-manno-heptose (LD-Hep), D-galactose , D-glucose, and phosphorylethanolamine (PEtn). Based on H-1, C-13 and P-31 NMR spectroscopic studies including 2D COSY, TOCSY, ROESY and heteronuclea r H-1-P-31 and HMQC experiments it was established that the oligosaccharide has the following structure: [GRAPHICS] (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
