This paper reports an analysis of the effect of residual stress resulting f
rom the manufacturing process on the non-linear behaviour of a laminate. To
investigate non-linear behaviour, Part I of this study addressed the manuf
actured specimen, assessment of residual stress within the laminate, and me
chanical testing. This second part is devoted to the modelling of the non-l
inear behaviour of the laminate. including damage and plastic behaviour. Th
e set of layer parameters is identified for each laminate and compared to t
he residual stresses. This comparison shows that damage and plastic failure
criteria depend on residual stresses. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All r
