Abstract
An alternative closed-form estimator for blind source separation based on f ourth-order statistics is presented. In contrast to other estimators, the n ew estimator works well when the source kurtosis sum is zero. Arbitrary sou rce PDFs are successfully treated through a combined estimation scheme base d on a heuristic decision rule for choosing between the new estimator and a n existing estimator.
