Abstract
New models for describing the effect of the vegetation-induced turbule nce on the vertical activity distributions of radon and its daughters, equilibrium factor, and unattached fraction have been developed. The turbulence within the vegetation, like in the open atmosphere, is simu lated by means of a diffusion coefficient with linear dependence on he ight. One-group (attached-to-aerosol) and two-group (attached-to-aeros ol and free) daughters are considered. Using the Green's function meth od, analytical solutions for the diffusion equation under different in tensities of the vertical turbulent mixing are derived. The model pred ictions are compared with some existing experimental data and a satisf actory agreement can be noted. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd .
