Abstract
A convenient reaction sequence has been established to obtain selectively t he mono- or bisphosphorylated BINAP derivatives 6-9. The structure of the n ew compounds was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy. The sodium salts of the pho sphonic acid derivatives 8 and 9 can be used in aqueous biphasic catalysis.
