The aim of the present study was to evaluate the tissue distribution of pol
ybutylcyanoacrylate nanoparticles (PBCN) in albino H mice bearing Ehrlich a
scites tumor (EAT). Tissue accumulation of nanoparticles in liver, lung, sp
leen, and kidneys, as well as in brain and blood was evaluated. The study w
as based on the electron-spin resonance (ESR) measurement of tissue concent
ration of spin-labelled nitrosourea (SLCNU) used as a spin label for diamag
netic PBCN. Three days after inoculation mice were given i.p. 1 ml of spin
labelled suspension of nanoparticles with mean diameter of 125 +/- 15 nm. S
LCNU-PBCN were accumulated mainly in the spleen, lung, kidneys and in a les
ser degree in the liver. The brain accumulation was scarce while in the blo
od samples only traces of ESR-signals were detected 15 min following i.p. i
njection. The paper provides evidence that normal and tumor-bearing mice di
ffer in tissue distribution of SLCNU-PBCN.
