In this paper, we analyze the error performance of coherent M-ary FSK (MFSK
) signals using the union bound which is an upper bound on the bit error pr
obability over frequency-nonselective slow Nakagami and Rician fading chann
els with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), respectively. Furthermore, t
he performances of uncoded coherent and noncoherent signals are compared un
der the fading channels. The error probability of noncoherent MFSK signals
over slow and flat fading channels when AWGN is present can be derived and
evaluated From the new probability density function (PDF) for the envelope
of the received signals.
