Abstract
2-Amino-4-(alpha -methoxyiminocarbmethoxymethyl) thiazole 1 on condensation with different aromatic aldehydes furnishes schiff bases 2a-o which on tre atment with chloroacetyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine as basic catalyst afford 2-azetidinones 3a-o. The synthesised compounds 3a-o have b een tested in vitro for their antitubercular activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv.
