Abstract
A HPLC procedure for the determination of 13 bile acids and cyprinol sulfat e in animals was developed. The mobile system 0.3% ammonium carbonate solut ion-acetonitrile (73:27, v/v) 10 min-->(68:32) 10 min-->(50:50) 10 min was available for separating all 14 bile components, except for deoxycholic and glycodeoxycholic acids, which could be further separated with 0.3% ammoniu m carbonate solution-acetonitrile (73:27). After applying this method, gras s carp and common carp bile was found to contain mainly cyprinol sulfate, w hile the other 12 fish species bile contained mainly taurocholic, taurochen odexoycholic and cholic acids. Chicken bile was mainly composed of glycolit hocholic and taurocholic acids, but duck bile was mainly composed of tauroc henodeoxycholic, cholic and ursodeoxycholic acids.
