Abstract
We present a novel type of dark spontaneous-force optical trap. The tr ap is based on a velocity-selective inhibition of repumping light abso rption produced by electromagnetically induced transparency. Accumulat ion of cold cesium atoms in a dark state is observed. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
