The field dependences of the magnetic moment of several GdxY1-xMn6Ge6 compo
unds have been analysed by a mean-field theory of several spin structures.
The assumption of spiral spin structures at low temperatures in these compo
unds has been confirmed. In addition to this, the magnetic phase diagrams o
f TbMn6Ge6 and DyMn6Ge6 have been deduced from magnetisation measurements o
f powder samples. In contrast to GdMn6Ge6, the crystal fields of these comp
ounds produce a variety of additional spin phases. (C) 2001 Elsevier Scienc
