The temperature dependence of the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) of CoAg com
posite is studied phenomenologically in this paper. It is considered that t
he composite contains both large magnetic grains and tiny clusters. The tin
y clusters, composing of several atoms, lead to an almost linear increase o
f the giant magnetoresistance with the temperature reduction. Our calculati
ons are in good agreement with recent experimental data for a nanogranular
CoAg films. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
