Abstract
BaFe12O19 fine particles were synthesized after milling a precursor obtaine d as an intermediate in the sol-gel method. The samples were analyzed by X- ray diffraction. scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetom etry. The milling process favors the formation of the BaM phase and therefo re, provides a better specific magnetization and smaller grain size compare d to the same preparation route but without the milling step. We report the magnetic and structural properties of the ferrite samples obtained from mi lled and non-milled precursors. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights r eserved.
